Comedy In The Mix: Drennon Davis

Drennon Davis is bringing his offbeat and fun comedy to this month’s Super Serious Show. November 17th at Smashbox Studios Culver City. Davis is one of the more imaginative and creative comedians working today. His unconventional act can have him singing original tunes with his ukulele to performing as a range of inventive and hilarious characters. Davis is definitely one of our favorite wacky characters and we’re certain that he will be yours too.

You may recognize Davis from season 6 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing or from his semi-regular show, The Imaginiary Radio Program, at The Nerdist Theater, located in the back of Meltdown Comics in Hollywood. The show has quickly become a favorite amongst comedy nerds and non-nerds alike. He also can be seen performing at a range of venues in the Los Angeles area.

Amy Schumer Is Bodacious

Photo by Susan MossHooray! Comedian Amy Schumer is performing at this month’s Super Serious Show at Smashbox Studios. Schumer is a clever and fearless performer, her stand-up full of bravado and wry humor. Bodacious through and through.

Since gaining attention as a finalist on Season 5 of Last Comic Standing, Schumer is distinguishing herself as one of the fastest rising comedians working today. Most recently, she appeared as one of the roasters on the highly-anticipated Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen. Her other television credits include Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show and a Comedy Central Presents special. Additionally, Schumer has nabbed acting roles on Curb Your Enthusiasm and 30 Rock, and was a co-host on Fuse TV’s A Different Spin with Mark Hoppus.

The Super Serious Show with Brendon Walsh

Super Serious Show is back. Thursday, April 21st. This month we have raconteur comedian Brendon Walsh running the show. Walsh is a favorite comedian with a diverse fan base, touring clubs and festivals nationwide. His comedy is always surprising and fun. His comedy is silly and smart, always engaging.

Walsh hails from Philadelphia and established his comedy career while living in Austin, TX. In 2004 he won the “Funniest Person In Austin” contest and appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live as the original character “Scary Monster” (a terrible monster stand-up comedian). Walsh continued to gain fans in 2005 and 2006 as Austin Chronicle’s readers voted him “Best Stand-up Comedian.” His other TV appearances include Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, NBC’s Last Comic Standing and Conan on TBS.

Other Walsh accolades include winning the grand prize on the comedy stage in the 2007 Famecast.com internet contest, being featured on the Just For Laughs “New Faces” 2008 Montreal showcase. In 2010 he returned to the festival to tape his HBO Special “Funny As Hell.” In addition to his stage stand-up skills, Walsh also writers and regularly appears on TruTV’s The World’s Dumbest.

James Adomian: Character Builder

This week’s St. Patrick's Day Super Serious Show will feature one of the best performers working today, James Adomian. The popular multi-skilled comedian is known for his impressions and character work, as well as his great stand-up comedy.

Adomian was a top-10 finalist on Last Comic Standing. His other film and television appearances include Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay, The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, Face to Bush (Comedy Central), Wordgirl (PBS) and The Onion Radio News, along with numerous underground cartoons and television pilots.

NBC recently cast Adomian in an upcoming comedy series opposite of Sarah Paulson.

Adomian’s good nature and comedy skills made him a favorite in comedy circles. He is a frequent contributor to Earwolf’s Comedy Death-Ray Radio, as well as numerous other podcasts. He’s made a name for himself in political circles through his impression work. Adomian often appears in numerous web videos on Funny Or Die and Atom.com.

Adomian performs stand-up and characters nationwide and often at Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles. Adomian is a one of a kind performer with rare skills. We can’t wait to see what he brings to Super Serious this week at Smashbox Studios.

The Funny and The Fury: Eddie Pepitone

The Bitter Buddha – comedian Eddie Pepitone – is coming to Super Serious this month - St. Patrick's Day. Watch out. Pepitone is a force of nature on stage – often switching back and forth between social rage and self doubt. An energetic combo of calm and chaos, Pepitone is one of our favorite comedians. Few comedians working today channel the power of the rant better than Pepitone. He’s one of a kind and a favorite among fellow comedians and die heard comedy fans alike.

In addition to his stand-up skills, Eddie Pepitone is a stand-out comic/character actor. Pepitone began his comedy career in New York City, quickly becoming a regular on the scene. He appeared regularly on Late Night With Conan O’Brien. His other numerous television appearances include Chappelle’s Show, Crossballs on Comedy Central, Jimmy Kimmel Live, King of Queens, Last Comic Standing, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The Sarah Silverman Program. Pepitone also appeared in the hit movie Old School.

Pepitone’s has dramatic acting chops, as well, with appearances on Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Deadline, The Beat and Now and Again.

He toured the country with the acclaimed Improv company Chicago City Limits. He currently tours nationwide and is a staple in the Los Angeles comedy scene, performing at The Improv, Largo and The Upright Citizen Brigade Theatre. The Comedy Bureau recently profiled Pepitone and his excellence. It's a great read and summary of why so many love Pepitone.

Pepitone’s one of the more popular and flavorful comedians online these days - his Twitter account is a must follow. He is one of the hosts of the popular comedy podcast, The Long Shot. Recently, Pepitone wrote and starred in an ongoing web series, Puddin’ Time – a great modern live-action version of the traditional single-frame comic.

The Super Serious Show with Jay Larson

It’s time to finally bring meaning to St. Patrick’s Day. Great comedy with your scheduled drinking? This month’s Super Serious Show with be headlined by the great on-the-rise comedian, Jay Larson. Larson’s a self-proclaimed simple man but his comedy is always thoughtful and slyly charming. He always finds a way to add a healthy dose of WTF randomness – his shows are full of surprises and great one-of-a-kind moments. Larson’s a sneaky-good comedian – we’re excited to have him be the one to combine the fury of Super Serious and St. Patrick’s Day this year.

Hailing from Massachusetts, Larson now splits his time between New York and Los Angeles. Larson has made a name for himself touring nationwide and with some great TV appearances, including Comedy Central, The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson and Last Comic Standing.

Larson also writes and performs in videos for ATOM.com. He’ll be recording his upcoming comedy album, too. Be on the lookout.

The Super Serious Show with Iliza Shlesinger

Watch out! Iliza is heading our way this month. High-energy  big-time comedian, Iliza Shlesinger is charging through Smashbox Studios Thursday 12/16 for the holiday episode of Super Serious.

One of our favorite comedians of the past few years, Shlesinger is pretty much a sure thing, always bringing it to audiences. Plus, she's "good people." Bonus.

The fun of Shlesinger's comedy is its great variety. She freely jumps from topic to topic, often off-the-cuff and always packing a punch with super stage energy.

Shlesinger currently resides in Los Angeles. She was the winner of NBC’s Last Comic Standing Season 6. She is the first female and youngest comedian to hold the title of Last Comic Standing.

Her television credits include having her own half hour special on Comedy Central Presents, Comedy Central’s Live At Gotham, Showtime's Pauly Shore & Friends and Bridging The Gap Comedy Special, E! Network’s Chelsea Lately, E!'s The Soup and NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly.

She performed at the coveted Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal and for the troops all over the world. Most weekends, you can find Shlesinger headlining at variety of colleges and clubs across the country.

When not wreaking havoc on stage, Shlesinger hosts her own hit web series The Weakly News with Iliza on thestream.tv.

Bring The Spunk: Christina Pazsitzky

Our favorite Los Angeles born and raised comedians, Christina Pazsitzky, is bringing the funny to Super Serious this week. No need to put her in the always-pointless chick corner - Pazsitzky's comedy ignores easy labels and covers all sorts of topics.

Pazsitzky is a stand-up comedian and writer who is a Los Angeles native and proud of it. Her comedy effortlessly coasts from topic to topic, always with a heavy dose of wit and charm. Always with a sharp take or two on her crazy but loveable hometown city.

A regular on the popular E! show Chelsea Lately, Pazsitzky is often touring comedy clubs nationwide. In the past few years, she earned her stripes by entertaining the troops in the Middle East, Africa and South Korea.

A long-time veteran of television, you can also see Pazsitzky on the E! Television’s Wildest TV Moments.  She hosted the FX series Hitchiker Chronicles and was a cast member on MTV’s Road Rules Australia. She was a regional finalist on Season 6 and 7 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing and is a featured comedian on Animal Planet’s The A List.  She also appeared in feature films with the ‘Jackass’ boys in TV: The Movie.

In 2007, she placed 2nd in California’s Funniest Female contest and was given the “Up and Coming Writer’ Award in Animation Magazine for her comedy writing work. You can often hear her on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show.
